Outline of the Two Day Egg Tempera Course
Day One:
Antony will give a presentation on his practice - illustrating this with photos of the different stages of the development of a painting, including under painting and the development of the painting into full colour.
He will give a demonstration of how to mix the egg with the pigments and the techniques and application of the paint to the gesso panel. Following his demonstration he will get the students to do the same, and get them to practice making and applying the paint on to some mount card.

Students will then do a drawing on to the gesso panel using diluted ivory black, of a still life subject; followed by the underpainting and then continue with the under painting with individual tuition.

Day Two:
Antony will explain and demonstrate the next stage of the painting with the development of the painting using the full palette and working with cool and warm tones in juxtaposition.  Students will continue developing their work from the under painting stage.  A short appraisal of the students work will end the day.

Antony Williams RP PS NEAC

Antony Williams  works almost exclusively in egg tempera, which can be a painstaking and exacting medium, but one which allows him to express a feeling he has about the look of the world.

‘All my work is the product of direct and intense observation, which can produce as a result a heightened sense of realism, where every surface detail is given almost equal consideration.’
