A monoprint is an artwork that is transferred from one surface to another to create a mirror image. This form of printmaking is very spontaneous and expressive and allows for lots of experimentation using brushstrokes, marking the surface with fine lines and removing areas of paint with a rag.
You will also learn the tracing method where you put a piece of paper over a base plate that has an even layer of ink on it and then draw on the paper. The pressure of the drawing tool transfers the ink to the underside of the paper and gives a beautiful quality of line.
You will spend the day learning the various techniques with time to experiment and produce several pieces of work.

RACHEL SARGENT

I studied painting at the Roehampton Institute, University of London and graduated with a BA Honours degree in 1981. I returned to my native county of Dorset in 1986 since when I have been a keen walker and observer of nature. My work is an extension of this. I have been exhibited widely in galleries and during art trails for nearly 30 years. I moved to a studio at the Dorset Centre for Rural Skills in 2008 where i started running workshops. In 2021 I moved to my present studio which is a converted cowshed at Gold Hill Organic Farm in Child Okeford.
