The wonderful world of watercolour

Watercolour is one of the most fascinating and versatile of all the paint mediums. A few brush strokes with a broad brush might capture a fleeting cloud. Or, with more time and a smaller brush, you might render a delicate flower.

In this workshop you will learn the many washes and techniques commonly used in watercolour painting, from wet-on-wet washes, to dry brush techniques and glazes, and how to use paint resist materials. You will discover how these techniques can be used to create semi abstract forms and representational imagery, working directly from life or a sketchbook.

On the first day a simple study of natural forms, such as fruit, sea shells, vegetables, will be made.  On day two we will look outside.

Kevin Dean trained at The Royal College of Art, London. His career has varied between illustrating books for some of the UK’s leading publishers, designing textiles , architectural decoration in the Middle East and painting in some of the world’s most remote wilderness regions. He has exhibited his work in Paris, New York and London.
