Rich with symbolism and compositional possibilities, flowers are an enthralling subject for the painter, as is the whole genre of still life.

Compositionally, the random objects which can constitute a still life and an arrangement of flowers present very similar problems for the painter. During the day we'll focus on composition and try to deal with some of the choices which arise.

Anthony will provide a selection of flowers but participants are encouraged to bring along their own flowers.
